The Ninth Wave

"The Ninth Wave" is a monumental paint by numbers artwork, inspired by Ivan Aivazovsky's famous masterpiece, that conveys the full power and unpredictability of the sea element. The canvas depicts a small raft with surviving sailors desperately battling giant waves during a raging storm. The sky is painted in dramatic orange-yellow tones of dawn, through which hope breaks through. Each wave appears alive, its crests covered in foam, and the ocean's depth seems bottomless. This painting will become a striking accent in any interior, symbolizing the resilience of the human spirit and the majesty of nature. It is ideal for those who appreciate epic subjects and maritime themes.

Useful tips

  1. The painting kit includes numbered acrylic paints, several different brushes, and a check sheet.
  2. Use the check sheet to see if you have done everything correctly and make corrections if necessary. Keep it until the painting is finished.
  3. Use as little water as possible. Wipe the brush with a napkin after rinsing it in water. There will be enough paint, and there will even be some left over!
  4. If you take a break from painting, tightly close all paint jars. NB! Paints cannot withstand freezing temperatures. Therefore, painting kits must be stored at 0+ degrees Celsius.
  5. It is better to start with dark tones and finish with light ones. Light colors need to be painted over several times to cover the printed number.
  6. The gray area where there is no number is painted with paint that also has no number – the jar will just have a white circle.
  7. A couple of weeks after finishing the painting, it will be dry enough to varnish and frame. We strongly recommend varnishing it to keep the painting beautiful for years.
  8. Be sure to take a photo of your painting and add it to the Omaart Facebook page. It will bring joy to others and participate in competitions that we organize.
  9. Don’t forget that Omaart is always ready to help you! Feel free to contact us and ask anything about painting.
